Coach Ananda

Ananda is the junior coach for the FPSC. With a life long passion for everything in, on and around water, he has made a career out of sharing that passion with others.

Growing up on the island nation of Sri Lanka, Ananda spent most of his time by the ocean or in the pool, training and swimming at competitions up to state and national level. After moving to Perth, Ananda began swim teaching at the age of 17 during his final year of high school, and has spent the last decade keenly developing his knowledge to continue to help swimmers improve their skills and confidence in the water.

At the beginning of 2021 Ananda took on the role of coaching junior competitive swimming at the Fremantle port swimming club where he has already seen remarkable results, coaching multiple swimmers in various events to state finalist and medallist positions, a testament to his dedication, expertise and passion for swimming.

Beyond his time poolside, Ananda is an avid water enthusiast with a passion for surf photography and enjoys travelling and spending his time by the ocean.

Coach Kate

Kate is a junior swimming coach with a passion for all things water sport. Born and raised in Perth, she developed a love for swimming from a young age and competed nationally in water polo and surf life-saving. Her dedication to the sport led her to take on the challenge of the Rottnest channel swim, which she completed as a duo with her good friend, and fellow coach Amber.

After swimming in the FLC national development squad, Kate was recommended by Coach Ray to become a swimming instructor. She quickly discovered a talent for swim teaching and was soon promoted to her current role as a junior swimming coach under the guidance of the new head coach, Carlos.

Kate is known for her ability to connect with young athletes and inspire them to reach their full potential. She has a keen eye for technique and enjoys working with swimmers of all levels, from beginners to competitive athletes.

In addition to her coaching career, Kate is also pursuing a Bachelor of Nursing at Notre Dame University. She hopes to one day become a midwife and use her skills to make a positive impact on the lives of women and their families. With her passion for water sports and dedication to coaching, Kate is a valuable member of the coaching team and a role model for young athletes.
